anticipation
taking a leap of faith
towards a whole new world

cold, but somehow
warm too
like the first splash inside a
freezing pool

bright yellow lights
sweet pink on my lips
music be loud and clear
the night was long and devoid of
fear

took a chance, i wish i did
for the merries are only short-lived
like the fireworks
and dimples on your cheek

come tomorrow the sun will set in
and we'll go about as if yesterday
's just a dream
i'll let reality sink in
and take the diamond underneath

youth and adolescence
life for me
